My teaching methodology emphasises fostering independent learning. While I can help students understand unfamiliar concepts by clarifying their reading and other materials, my primary goal is to teach the independent learning skills highly valued by university admissions offices and employers. I offer accountability, expert guidance, and initial starting points to help students expand their knowledge and interests effectively. Lessons will typically be 45 minutes to go through the student’s independent progress, next steps, and going through difficulties the student may be having with the project. These sessions are suitable for ages 16+, with younger students accepted if they have significant coding experience. (I have an enhanced DBS check.) I am an experienced tutor in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, adept at teaching a variety of levels. I have tutored the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and currently teach the Pearson A-level Statistics qualification at Greene’s College, Oxford. Additionally, I deliver an annual masterclass for the Royal Institution on agent-based modelling for disease spread, where students aged 16 learn to build models from scratch. Recently, I taught at an educational camp in Shanghai, where high school students engaged in practical exercises covering linear regression, Bayesian statistics, and time series analysis.

Thalia is one of the most friendly and enthusiastic teacher I've ever met. She always encourage us to explore our unknown areas and provide essential assistance when facing difficulties. In addition, she has a rather high level of professional skills and she is of great sense of humour.
I worked with Thalia on an academic excellence summer camp in Shanghai. She is an incredibly passionate and motivating teacher who really connected with her students. Her students made great progress while on the camp. I have no doubt that she would be awesome to have as your private tutor.
Thalia is an excellent teacher I met at a summer camp. She explained key concepts clearly and made them easy to understand. She was patient and paid great attention to detail in her tutoring. Her impressive insights into machine learning and statistics significantly improved my understanding of these fields.
