About Andrew
Personal Description: I am a 53-year-old father of two children and have been a teacher of mathematics for over 20 years. I work with passion, enthusiasm and love to bring the fun back into mathematics and show students that it can be a fascinating and rewarding experience which they can take forward with confidence into their working lives. I have a proven track record of inspiring students to excellent results and believe that clear explanations and well-prepared teachers can make a huge difference to student achievement. Teaching/Tutoring Experience: I have taught Mathematics from ages eleven to eighteen for 20 years, specialising in preparing students for GCSE/IGCSE/A Level exams and tutored maths for eight out of the last 10 years. I have also tutored an Asperger's child in mathematics through eight years of schooling till his graduation. Tutoring Approach: I understand that a classroom is not always a comfortable place for learners and some can struggle to keep up and do not get the individual attention they need to fully understand a particular topic. They leave the lesson feeling confused and do not necessarily have the confidence to ask the right questions, either during or after the lesson. Therefore, my number one focus as a tutor and teacher of mathematics is boosting low confidence and self-esteem, as I strongly believe that this is the main area which holds back learners from achieving success. I believe that everyone can do mathematics and that a skilled teacher can really make a huge difference. I tailor my approach to suit whatever needs addressing through careful diagnostic assessment of skills. I focus on weaknesses and gaps in knowledge and repair any misconceptions so that the learner has all the necessary foundations in place to move forward with confidence. Andrew Hardy was an experienced maths teacher for students from Year 7 to Year 13. He taught KS3, KS4 , KS5, GCSE, IGCSE maths as well as A Level maths. He taught A Level Core Maths 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Statistics 1. He also taught GCSE Statistics for a number of years. He always found effective methods to engage his students.
I have known Andrew as a colleague for 7 years and in that time he demonstrated himself to be a highly dedicated Mathematics Teacher whose main desire was to education to the best of his ability the students he taught. The examination results gained by his students was always at the level of their ability or higher. One of his favourite lessons was using mini-white boards which the students always enjoyed.
I have worked with Andy for many years at Harrow International School in Bangkok where we both worked in the Maths Department. Andy was an exceptional teacher who taught the full age range up to GCSE and A level maths. He got excellent results with the students and his manner was professional and friendly.
Andy is an outstanding maths teacher and has lots of empathy for his students. His appreciation for developing students learning potential using AFL techniques is excellent and his lessons always look to promote the learning of all his students regardless of ability. He is reliable and professional and a dedicated educator. His subject knowledge is second to none.
