About Sophie

Hi! My name is Sophie Redvers, and I’m originally from New York City but I attend university in California. I decided to study mathematics in college because I love its applications in all areas of science (both natural and social), and I want to share that passion with others!

This past summer, I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant for a summer school program with MIT, where I helped rising 9th graders improve their skills in Algebra I.

I also have a younger brother who is on the spectrum, so I am experienced working with children with special needs.

About the lesson

Students will be able to…

-Explain complicated topics in their own words with real-world examples in physics, economics, and statistics

-Recognize patterns when problem solving

-Gain an interest in higher level mathematics courses

-Improve their confidence in future mathematics courses

I'm an electrical engineering major and shared a lot of the same classes with Sophie my first two years of college. We used to always study together and she always had a good grasp of the topics we had been learning. Sophie's great at explaining complex problems in terms anyone can understand.

I know Sophie from going to school with her at UC Santa Barbara! We share the same major, so I have worked along side her with academics. Her explanations have helped me understand material better. She is super sociable, smart, a hard-worker, and dedicated. Highly recommend!
