About Ruihan

I am a third-year undergraduate student in Statistics at University of Auckland, and I am intending to continue my study of IT-related program after graduation. I currently hold a GPA of 7/9 at the university.

I have done a volunteering job as a math and English tutor at a middle school(Grade 9 and 10 ) last year. From this experience, I discovered my love of being a communicator of knowledge as well as the joy of seeing people progress. Personally, I am very interested in solving problems and thinking of the fundamental aspects of things(concepts, great ideas, education and the human minds), so I am also capable of tailor my teaching style according your characteristics and needs:)

In my spare time, I love music, coding, reading, running and communicating with people.

About the lesson

As I am convinced that maths and statistics are edifices built up by logic, I would like my students to try to study these subjects in a systematic way. Try to establish the web of knowledge for a concept/chapter/field of study, and then get into the details, applications and tricky points. Also try to find solutions to problems in multiple angles. I will also help my students develop habits that are useful and efficient to their revision for tests/exams, like the use of mind maps and logic trees.

In classes, I will especially pay attention to the fundamentals of knowledge, interconnections between knowledge and ask you to explain things to me before or after we exchange our ideas. These are beneficial ways of learning according to the physicist Feynman.
