About Vivian

Hello! I'm Vivian and I am passionate about empowering students to achieve their academic goals. With over 5 years of experience in the education field, I specialize in math, science, and college prep tutoring. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and I am currently pursuing my PhD at Columbia. I believe that every student has unique strengths and potential. My approach is highly personalized, focusing on understanding each student's individual needs and crafting customized study plans that address their specific goals and challenges. I provide one-on-one tutoring, ensuring that each student receives the focused attention they deserve, and I offer flexible tutoring sessions to accommodate busy schedules.

About the lesson

I am a very detailed tutor who aims to provide individualized tutoring for my students. I typically prepare materials for tutoring based on identified areas of weaknesses. I will tailor my lesson for students based on their preferred learning methods whether it be a lecture format or hands on practice. A typical lesson plan can consist of 30 minutes of teaching and going over new materials, and 30 minutes of practice problems. I can provide lessons in general math and science subjects from K-12 as well as college prep such as personalized ACT/SAT prep and guidance on college applications.
