About Mike
I started coaching maths when I was 15 my then girlfriend was having trouble preparing for her Maths 'O' level (Algebra and Quadratic equations come to mind) and as I took mine when I was 14 and was preparing for Additional Maths it seemed an obvious way to help. I do have Maths and Statistics 'A' levels and went on to study Geophysics at University (with units of Statistics and Maths).
Professionally I have spent a lot of time abroad (countries such as USA, Mexico, Egypt and France) often acting as a mentor to local staff to train them.

Initially to define a realistic objective, current challenges preventing that objective being met, finding a way of relating to the person and giving the person the confidence to obtain their goal.
Confidence and reinforcement of previous achievements is key, one of the biggest issues I have helping my daughter with her Maths (other than keeping detached) was to keep reinforce how she had previously solved problems and hinting on the path to solve new problems - something it seems a lot of the online learning/problems don't seem to do.
