About Toby

I'm a second-year chemistry student at the University of Bristol, and while my degree takes up a decent amount of my time, I'm committed to making sure my lessons are prepared and effective.
I'm very patient, and always open to questions, no matter how stupid you think they might be, and I'm happy moving forward with the content as slowly as you feel comfortable with.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Toby!
I've been tutoring for about a year now, and have accumulated over 50 hours of teaching students in maths, science and chemistry all the way from year 9 to year 13.
In my lessons, I aim to build foundational understanding first, as it's essential to master the basics before moving on to the more complicated stuff. A typical lesson will start with a quick warm-up with some easy questions before trying to figure out where any gaps in knowledge might be. From there, we'll discuss the topic in depth, going over plenty of example exam-style questions together, before you try any on your own.
This is just an idea of what a lesson may look like - however, I try to personalise the lessons to see what works best for you. Each student is different, and learns in a different way, so there's no one-size-fits-all lesson plan!
