About Clive
Initially a mechanical engineer, I qualified with a Bachelor of Education (hons) degree in 1992 and became hooked on teaching. I enjoy interacting with my students and watching them have fun whilst growing in confidence and ability. The internet offers a unique opportunity to reach people who can make use of my skills regardless of where they are in the world. I have extensive experience of helping students to improve their confidence and performance in speaking and writing English. I generally use casual conversation and online articles as a basis for my lessons to help improve reading and pronunciation skills and to increase vocabulary. I sometimes also ask students to prepare short written pieces of work to use as a basis to improve vocabulary, writing skills, grammar.
I have built up extensive experience helping foreign students to improve their vocabulary, understanding, listening and pronounciation. I believe that learning should be fun and constantly try to find fun ways of learning skills on an individual basis. Life is too short to fill it with tedious study. Fun is motivational and soon helps students to build confidence. I operate online so you can learn in the comfort and convenience of your own home at convenient times.
