About Amy
Hi, I’m Amy. I’ve always learned best by explaining things to others, and even in high school I regularly helped friends understand difficult physics concepts as a way to deepen my own understanding. I strongly believe that you don’t truly understand a topic until you can explain it clearly to someone else. That passion led me to move to Germany, where I studied physics at the University of Leipzig. While living there, I also began tutoring English, which helped me develop a flexible, student-focused teaching style across different learning levels and backgrounds. Due to visa limitations, I returned home and am now enrolled in a paramedic program, while continuing to tutor — something I genuinely enjoy, especially in subjects like physics that many students find challenging. I bring patience, clarity, and adaptability to my lessons, and I take pride in helping students feel capable rather than overwhelmed. I’m professional, well prepared, and committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through concepts at their own pace.

About My Lessons
My tutoring style is flexible, creative, and built around how each student learns best. I like to explain physics by connecting difficult ideas to things students already understand and enjoy, which often leads to real “aha” moments.
--------------------------------------------------------
Typical lesson structure
Before a lesson, I usually ask students to share the topic they’re struggling with. I then break that topic down into its core ideas and check where understanding feels solid and where it’s missing. From there, we focus mainly on practice questions, working through them together.
I let students do the thinking while I guide them step by step, asking questions and adjusting explanations as we go. I don’t give answers — instead, I help students understand why something works the way it does, because that’s what makes the concept stick.
Lessons stay flexible and can move slower or faster depending on the student, their confidence, and what they need most that day.
-------------------------------------------------------------
What sets me apart
I’ve been told I’m very patient and able to explain complex ideas in clear, approachable ways, especially for students who felt lost or overwhelmed in class. I specialize in working with neurodivergent students and students with learning differences, and I focus on teaching the person, not just the material.
My lessons are for elementary and high school students who want a supportive, adaptable approach to learning physics.
