About Caitlyn
I matriculated with four distinctions and understand how much the right support can improve a student’s confidence and performance because I didn't have a tutor, I only learned the importance of academic support a year later. My goal as a tutor is to help each student learn in a way that suits them best, whether they are visual, auditory, or prefer step-by-step explanations.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and am currently completing my Honors in Paleontology. Through my studies, I have gained strong experience in biology, as well as a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
I also understand the difference between high school learning and university-level thinking. When I entered university, I had to adapt my study methods, problem-solving skills, and approach to learning. Because of this, I can help students not only understand their subjects, but also develop better study habits, prepare for exams, and build confidence in their abilities.
I aim to create a patient, supportive, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace. Asking questions is where learning begins

My approach to tutoring starts with identifying where the student is struggling, because once we understand the problem, we can find the right solution. I focus on teaching in a way that suits each student’s learning style, whether that means whiteboard explanations, visual flashcards, audio-based learning, or online lessons through video explanations and Microsoft Teams calls.
I also believe past papers are one of the best tools for learning. They help students understand how questions are asked, prepare for unexpected topics, and develop stronger study methods.
I teach mainly in English and can also assist with Afrikaans First Additional Language.
In a typical lesson, students can expect patient explanations, active problem-solving, study techniques suited to them, and a supportive environment where they can ask questions freely. My lessons are aimed at primary and high school students who want to improve their understanding, confidence, and marks.
Maths, Life Sciences, Accounting, Natural sciences, English, and Afrikaans can all be taught with the right amount of attention.
