About Matilda
I have a wide variety of experience tutoring over the last four years with students ranging in age from 10, sitting CAT4 examinations, to A level students sitting the MAT and PAT entrance exams for Oxford at the end of their school career.
I have just graduated with an Upper Second Class BA (Hons) in Computer Science from Balliol College, the University of Oxford, and am beginning studies for my Masters in October.
Having originally sat the Physics Aptitude Test for Oxford in 2018 before transferring to studying Computer Science in 2020, I have experience with studying both Physics and Computer Science at University. I have a wealth of experience in tutoring and a passion for sharing my love of the mathematical sciences with younger students.
I attended a top girls comprehensive school in North London where I was an elected member of the head girl team. This is where I first began tutoring a GCSE level student for her Maths and Physics examinations, successfully helping her achieve an A* and A respectively.
Outside of my degree at university I am a keen member of my college community, I play for my college netball team in weekly matches and am involved in a variety of access initiatives for the university. As a selected ambassador for the university I have volunteered to give day tours to younger students and helped answer questions asked by prospective applicants on virtual panels.
In 2020 I was a teacher on the Official Oxford Preparing for the PAT course. This involved over two weeks in Summer teaching my group, of 10 sixth form Students from comprehensive schools in the UK, problem solving skills to help them prepare for the Oxford entrance exam. I would go through specific techniques and particularly challenging questions with them to ensure they were fully able to attempt the exam to the best of their ability. This year I used the skills I learnt whilst training for and teaching on the 2020 course to privately tutor two students for PAT. Both students passed the examination and are, at present, waiting on results for their interviews.
I am a member of two exclusive Oxbridge tutoring agencies but prefer the flexibility that comes with co-ordinating directly with students and their parents to find what suits you best. I would love to use my many hours of experience to help put together a program that would best help you to achieve your academic goals.

I believe there is value in understanding why and how the mathematical formulas we use in Physics and Maths GCSE and A level come about. I believe that a greater depth to what is taught on syllabus in schools allows students to more easily remember how to approach difficult problems.
I think that tutoring should be student based and that the student should be allowed the freedom to ask questions and go deeper into the subject where they see fit to encourage independent learning. My undergraduate studies in Physics and Computer Science allow me to tie in even KS3 level maths and science with bigger more exciting parts of the field.
I believe the Oxford tutorial style learning is the most effective way to pass on my love of these subjects. Encouraging problem solving and working through exam style questions in an exciting and engaging way!

She is genuinely enthusiastic and explains things clearly.
Matilda helped me prepare for my Mathematics and Physics GCSE examinations. She explained complicated topics in a way that was much easier to understand. I found our sessions really helpful in helping me achieve an A and A* in my examinations at the end of the year.
