• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  As a native French speaker, I developed an interest in French during my high school years when I was introduced to French literature. The way it opened up a whole new world of culture and art fascinated me. My experiences in France and in Canada, within prestigious academic and political institutions, made me delve deeper into the language and its nuances. I realized that learning and teaching French could become a lifelong passion.

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  What makes me passionate about teaching French is witnessing the transformation of my students as they progress in their language journey, whether it is for work or for school. Seeing their confidence grow and witnessing the joy on their faces when they successfully communicate in French brings me immense satisfaction. But French is not just a language; it's a gateway to a different culture. Sparking my students' interest in Francophone literature, cinema, and traditions is what keeps my passion alive.

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

  One of the things I love about tutoring is the one-on-one interaction with my students. It allows me to personalize my approach, address their specific needs, and tailor my teaching methods to suit their learning style. This is why a placement test (free of charge) is sent before the first class, in order to better understand my students' strengths and weaknesses.
  
  As a "Superprof", I pride myself on my ability to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. I strive to be as patient, understanding, and approachable, as possible. As a former Political Science and International Relations student, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, and making mistakes without fear!

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

  One of my role models who inspired me is my parents. Originally from France, they had a unique way of making the language come alive in the family. They went above and beyond to organize cultural activities and trips that truly immersed us in the Francophone world. Their love for education, and culture, left a lasting impact on me and shaped the kind of educator I aspire to be.

• What are your keys to success?

  I believe that there are two keys to success in learning French. 1) Curiosity: My students' interests have always guided the topics discussed in my classes (sports, politics, arts, literature, etc.). 2) Consistency: Learning a new language takes time and effort, so it's crucial to set aside at least one class per week. I also believe in technology to enhance the learning experience. The use of online tools, such as movies, music extracts, short videos, and even online exercises, are essential parts of my courses.
