My technique is based on my years of experience as a practicing engineer as well as work as a course content creator and teaching assistant.
I lead students to deconstruct problems to their simplest components to solve them, making sure they understand the fundamentals being applied for a holistic understanding of the material.
Lesson plans will be tailored based on the student and the goals being set, but will roughly follow the outline below:
0-5 min: Check in and status report. Go over goals of session.
5-15 min: Go over the concepts being applied to ensure understanding
15-45 min: Work on the concepts at hand and apply them to problems or case studies together.
45-55 min: Have student explain and solve a challenge problem to ensure they understand the material.
45-55 min: Discuss concepts and provide a challenge
55-60 min: Summarize material and talk next steps.
