Hi, I’m Jacob—a passionate STEM student at UC San Diego studying NanoEngineering and Biochemistry. I’ve led my school’s chemistry club, built a home chem lab, and earned top scores in AP Chemistry, Biology, Stats, and Calculus. I’ve also tutored peers for years and love helping students truly understand the material. I’m reliable, organized, and genuinely care about each student’s growth. About the lesson

As a tutor, my primary goal is to help students gain a deep understanding of chemistry, biology, and math, rather than just memorizing facts. I simplify challenging concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations, tailoring my teaching style to meet each student's individual needs. A typical lesson begins with identifying areas where the student is struggling, followed by collaborative problem-solving using examples, and then progressing to independent practice.

I believe that the best learning occurs through real-world examples rather than relying solely on slideshows or lectures. Drawing from my own experience in advanced AP-level math and science courses, leading a chemistry club, and studying various STEM topics, I strive to make learning both practical and engaging. I particularly enjoy working with middle school and high school students, including those enrolled in honors or AP classes. Ultimately, my aim is to foster curiosity, confidence, and a strong understanding of the subject matter.
