About Rebecca
I have worked as an educator in computer science for many years in many different ways. In each of them, I’ve found joy in teaching the valuable skills needed to become a successful programmer and have been inspired by the creativity and cleverness of each student I’ve worked with.
Education and programming are both collaborative at their best and teaching inspires me to explore concepts familiar to me in new ways, deepening my understanding of the field more with every student I work with. I have felt the most fulfilled when supporting my students through programming fundamentals, introducing each person to a field that is quickly taking a leading role in our world.

I would conduct courses online, helping beginners with download and installation of resources.
Each lesson could consist of 1-2 hours of exploring necessary foundational aspects of computer science and programming.
I have worked in computer science education with people ages 5-22 as a volunteer tutor, a teacher for a remote tech education company, and tutor and teaching assistant at a university. I can subsequently adapt lessons to different age groups and expectations.
For younger age groups, we can explore programming building blocks through resources such as Scratch.
For older age groups, we can learn the most important and widely applicable programming techniques in either Python or Java, which we can extend to more complex topics such as data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
Learning programming can and should be fun! If it fits your interests, I have lesson plans that teach foundational skills and concepts through game design and interactive systems.

I worked with Rebecca as a fellow tutor in the Computer Science Department at Middlebury College and saw firsthand how knowledgeable, patient, and creative she is as she explains concepts to students. She does a great job of meeting students where they are in their knowledge of the subject and explaining concepts in a way that they can concretely understand.
