I approach each topic from an angle I see suitable for the person I'm tutoring, I make it a concept related to their everyday lives and make it fun and interesting, for it to be easier for one to understand and engage quickly into what's being taught. From there we just flow into tricks and ways on how to tackle a few concepts.
