About Selin
Hi, I'm Selin.
I'm a Physics graduate from the University of Toronto, currently completing my Master of Engineering at UofT. I've taught everything from grade 7 number theory to university-level calculus and physics. I make sure students leave the sessions more confident and less stressed about school. I will help you make your learning journey enjoyable rather than a chore to get through.

How I teach ?
I am there to increase your confidence in your abilities to solve problems and understand the wonderful world of physics and math.
Every lesson starts the same way: I find out what you already know, then rebuild the concept from the ground up using first-principles thinking.
I teach Socratically. That means I ask questions instead of giving answers. It takes more patience, but it means you walk away actually able to solve the next problem. I teach you how to keep going at a problem, and how to manage anxiety during tests when you run into a problem you have never seen before.
No two students learn the same way. Some need a picture. Some need a number. Some just need to know it's okay to ask the "obvious" question. I adjust to your needs, and how your mind process information.
A typical lesson
Check-in (5 min) — Quick review, catch any leftover confusion early.
Diagnostic (5–10 min) — One question tells me exactly where you stand.
Build the concept (15–20 min) — First principles, visuals, step-by-step logic.
Guided practice (15–20 min) — We solve together. I ask, you think.
Solo practice (10 min) — You try it alone. I watch what sticks.
Wrap-up (5 min) — One-sentence takeaway + a focused task for next time.
What sets me apart
I hold a Physics degree from the University of Toronto and I'm currently completing a Master of Engineering at UofT. My undergrad thesis was on stellar streams, and research is a big part of my life.
I'm fluent in English, native in Turkish, conversational in French. If you need lessons to be in Turkish, I can accommodate your needs.
Who this is for
Grades 7–12, plus first- and second-year university students, in:
Math — number theory, algebra, functions, calculus (limits, derivatives, integrals, from first principles), and competition-level problem solving.
Physics — high school through intro university mechanics and electromagnetism.
You'll get the most out of me if you:
Want to understand it, not just pass the test.
Are prepping for a math competition and need strategy, not just review.
Are heading into a STEM-heavy program and want real foundations.
Have felt behind in math or physics and want someone patient to start over with you.
