About Monica M
Growing up, I always loved math, and science really intrigued me. I wasn’t a strong reader back then, but math taught me how important it is to pay attention to details and clues. Helping my classmates as I grew up is what inspired me to become a teacher. I know firsthand that math and reading can be challenging, and that personal experience helped me find ways to relate to the material and successfully solve complex problems.
I graduated with a degree in Biology and a minor in Math from a university in Florida, where I also earned my teaching certification. I’m now certified in North Carolina and teaching middle school science, but I still love tutoring my Florida students online as they navigate high school and college.

With over a decade of experience, I have taught students ranging from 1st to 11th grade and tutored learners from the 3rd-grade through the college level in Math and Science. I believe the most vital step in learning is building a genuine connection. By understanding how a student thinks and approaches their studies, I can meet them exactly where they are. My greatest joy is watching a student recognize their own improvement and realize their potential, knowing that those successes are just the beginning!
In our sessions, I start by letting students lead, allowing them to complete their work and explain their thought process out loud. From there, we walk through the material step-by-step as many times as needed, gradually transitioning toward independent work. I truly believe that mistakes are welcomed opportunities for growth, and learning to identify those errors through self-checking is one of the most powerful tools a student can master. My goal is to foster a supportive, encouraging environment where every student feels confident and empowered to share their doubts, their new realizations and work towards learning.
