About Will
Howdy! My name is Will Gallegos, & I am a 21-year-old from San Antonio, TX. I am a senior applied mathematics & data engineering student at Texas A&M, & will be pursuing a Ph.D. in mathematics focused on quantum information theory.
I think that I am uniquely qualified to teach due to the experiences I have had in previous jobs, extracurriculars, & university courses. I understand that every person learns differently and needs different methods/styles of teaching, & am ready to provide that. Some of those experiences I was referring to are listed below:
I have been tutoring on & off for the past 5 years, while also having jobs as a student computer/printer technician, a retail associate at Gap Inc., & an assistant manager at a mom & pop restaurant.
For a couple of years, I worked as a freelance photographer focusing on providing affordable graduation & prom photos for low-income communities.
I am currently one of the two head coaches for Texas A&M’s rowing team. Under my watch, the team has earned nearly 300% more medals in the previous 2 semesters than the 2 semesters preceding my tenure, including a 3rd place finish in the Men’s 2x Grand Final at the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championship.
At A&M, I have taken a variety of math courses that qualify me to teach in most areas of mathematics. These courses include:
- Calculus 1-3 (Equivalent to both AP Calculus classes & multivariable calculus)
- Ordinary Differential Equations
- Linear Algebra
- Real Analysis
- Complex Analysis
- Introductory Abstract Algebra
- Number Theory & Cryptography
- Introductory Logic & Set Theory
- Classical & Quantum Algorithms
- Statistics I (Probability & Quantitative Hypothesis Testing)
- Statistics II (ANOVA, Qualitative Analysis, & Experimental Design)
Some personal information about me:
- I love animals! I have a dog (corgi) & cat at home, and a dog (lab) & cat with me at A&M.
- I love nature! Growing up I was a boy scout & traveled across the country for camping & hiking. Most recently my girlfriend & I went on a 40-mile backpacking trek that included climbing the tallest mountain in Colorado, Mt. Elbert.
- I come from a family of teachers, and that passion has been passed on to me. I deeply enjoy teaching, so much so that after college I plan to work an engineering job the minimum number of years to retire, and then become a math/engineering professor as a second career.

I should be able to adequately teach all math at and below a sophomore undergraduate level.
Regardless of what topic you are coming to me for, my teaching approach is different than most high school teachers or college professors take: I want you to fundamentally understand the content to a level that you could teach it back to me.
I grew up in a household of educators, have been tutoring my sister with learning disabilities for years, & have ADHD myself. Having these experiences has shown me the flaws in classroom/lecture style teaching; memorization & repetition is prioritized over understanding so that test performance is standardized, but the lack of understanding causes a severe spike in difficulty with more advanced topics.
My goal as a teacher/tutor will be to truly make you understand concepts at a fundamental level, so you’ll not only excel in exams & tests, but also be able to explain the topics & problem solve on your own.

I met Will through our church youth group when we were in middle school, and reached back out to him for help with a linear algebra class at Kansas State. He really helped raise my grade in that class, and he taught me in a way that didn’t feel like he was a professor reading directly from the textbook. I remember struggling specifically with vector subspaces and the inner-product. As a mechanical engineering major, both confused me because they seemed very abstract, but Will tied the concepts to broader math that I actually use in engineering, and gave me examples that actually explained why things work the way they do instead of just telling me “do it this way” leaving me more confused. If you are good at solving problems but are struggling to understand the “why”, Will is perfect for you
I am a senior in high school who struggles heavily with math. My older brother (Will) helped me a lot with geometry and algebra 2, I would not have been able to pass those classes without him. After explaining concepts to me, he would always ask me what I am still struggling with, and then re-explain those parts in greater detail, sometimes in a completely different way if I needed it. I am a visual learner, and he was always great at making up analogies or giving real world examples that made problems seem like more than just numbers on a page. Will is an excellent tutor and I highly recommend him

I am trying to be cheaper than most other teachers on the platform, I have a philosophy that important services (like teaching) should be priced in a way that they are accessible to everyone. If money is a problem, just shoot me a message. For me the money is secondary, I really just enjoy teaching and seeing others succeed
