About Shamez
I went to university to study English literature and become a high school English teacher. Through my experiences teaching in the mainstream system, I got frustrated with the sizes of my classes and not having time to work with each individual student. I went back to school to get a degree in counselling, which led me to working in an alternative school setting. Funny enough, the only position available at the time was for math. Because I fell in love with the alternative setting and being able to work with students on a more individual basis, I recalled and retaught myself the math I learned in high school. I don't pretend to know everything right away, but my students have responded well to my teaching methods and I've been teaching math in school for over 10 years now.

I take an approach of curiosity to help students with their math. Through this method, I don't always act as the expert, but I come from a place of learning with the students to help them better understand the math concepts they're working through.
