One-on-one tutoring session
A) Request student to set the agenda for what they are interested in learning/mastering in the tutoring session prior to session, then refine the plan in the first five minutes of the session as needed given a brief understanding of where the student stands on the subject material.
EXAMPLE: If a student asks for a one hour session to cover a homework set on trigonometric identities, I will ask the student to set the agenda for what problems they would like to cover in that one hour session (request a maximum of three problems prior to session and adjust within session). Then I will ask the student to list a basic set of identities that are the foundation of writing trigonometric identity proofs and can gauge within the first five minutes of the session if they are ready to work through the problem set. If the student is unable to list the basic set of foundational identities, then I will offer the student two options:
1. Redefine the scope of the session to help the student understand the basic set of identities and then try to apply that knowledge to one homework problem.
2. Offer to cancel the session so that the student can learn the foundational knowledge on their own without being charged for the session.

If I have to drive out to meet the student and the student does not cancel the lesson at least two hours in advance, I will ask for a flat fee of 5 dollars.
An online session can be cancelled without penalty five minutes into the session. If the student decides that they are not ready after the first five minutes, I will offer them the option of cancelling the session for free. However if they do this more than than three times in three months then I will ask them to find another tutor.
