About Christopher
About me:
I'm a recent school leaver (class of 2020) from Trinity Grammar School who will be studying Design in Architecture next year at the University of Sydney. I am fairly new to official tutoring and only beginning to build a base of students; however, that does not mean I am without experience. During school, I sacrificed lunch time once a week to mentor younger, primary-age students with their maths, english and STEM tasks. Additionally, I have learned other skills necessary for teaching through a cadet program where I was responsible for the army-style training of secondary-age pupils.
Qualifications:
I received an IB score of 43/45 in 2020, which equates to an ATAR of 99.55. This included a band 7/7 in standard level Maths (not studies)
Also achieved an accelerated band 6 in HSC Advanced Maths while in year 10.
Consequently, I am sure I'll be more than qualified to tutor maths for those in primary and secondary school, so that they can feel more confident in their maths abilities.

I would describe my approach to tutoring as people-orientated, recognising that tutoring is only valuable because of its one-on-one nature. In school environments with large classes, individuals can often be ignored and their questions go unanswered. Thus, tutoring with me would supplement the student's school education with personalised and attentive lessons in which they can clarify things that were misunderstood in class.
My coaching is structured such that students bring topics they have recently completed or topics they will go through soon. Then, we will dive together into this work to deeply understand the task and develop the matching skills. For maths tutoring, the following session I will supply my own resources (typically a worksheet) to ensure the student can draw on his prior knowledge to solve the problem, even after a week-long break from the initial learning.
