About Kari

I have a strong passion and desire for music and it shows in the music I choose for myself and for my students.

I have a degree in vocal and music education from Ball State University. I studied Opera, Classical, Contemporary, and musical theater in my four years attending. I have also taught in the public school sector for over 7 years and 6 years I have directed musicals.

When I was in high school, I was heavily influcened by both my band and choir teacher. I loved music and my love for it grew more and more with my directors. I wanted to be able to share that with students and that is why I am a music teacher. 



4 years of vocal training at Ball State University. 
2 years piano training along with 5 years piano lessons. 
7 years teaching middle school choir and general music in the public school sector. 
6 years directing middle school musical theater groups.

Our first lesson would typically be getting to know you. I love to hear or see vocalists in the repertoire they enjoy. We will do a little pitch matching and then some theory questions. We want to make sure you know what you're reading and performing. Students  will then have three to four repertoire pieces to work on for the semester. 



I typically work with middle school aged students but am not opposed to upper elementary aged children or high school aged children. 



Make sure you feel a positive connection with the student and teacher. If a positive outlook isn't felt by both, the teacher, student or both may have a negative experience.
