About Amanda

I am a self employed math tutor. I am flexible and enthusiastic about math. I enjoy working with kids and helping them to better understand math and its importance.

I have a 4 years bachelor degree from Niagara University in Math Education and am recieving two inital teaching certificates (Math 5-9 and Math 7-12). I have tutored college students in Calc 2 and high school students in trigonometry. I enjoy tutoring because I can make the lessons/study sessions more personalized to fit the student I am working with's needs.

I knew I wanted to teach since I was 14 thanks to teachers I had that helped inspire me (either through being wonderful or horrible in my humble opinion). I had a rocky time myself in math due to a few different reasons and it took me a few years to even realize how much I love the subject!

I have a 4 year bachelors degree in Math Education, 2 pending math teacher certificates, and experience with both tutoring and being tutored in math.

When begining to work with a new student, it is importnat that we get to know each other. I need to have a good understanding of what the student's strengths and weaknesses are as well as what motivates them. Studying math should not be dreaded, but enjoyed.

For tutoring math subjects I have worked with high school and college students. I have a great deal of expereince teaching swimming lessons to students of all ages and working after school with elementary students on their homework.

I would tell students to take it seriously because you want a tutor who will listen to your needs, care about your learning, and not make being tutored boring. Try to get to know the tutor you are interested in hiring beforehand to ensure they are a good fit for you. And don't forget to see how well the tutor actually knows the content you need assistance in.

With all the recent social distancing I have been very fond of all the connecting that has been done through th einternet with one another. Additionaly, Pokemon Go has made the game much easier to play without having to travel as much which I am pleased about.

Pricing is something that depends on a few factors such as subject and where the sessions are taking place. Generally, I ask for around $30 a hour.
