About Susan

I have been teaching math for more than 40 years now. I have a way of reaching students and helping them understand difficult concepts that they struggle with. I convert math haters to students who think math is ok. I help remove a student's fear and dislike of math. I love teaching.

I have always been a teacher. I used to help other students learn while in elementary school. I have just always had a way of being able to explain things. I enjoy teaching people new things and helping others understand new concepts.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. I graduated magma cum laude with a Master's Degree in Instruction and Curriculum.

About the lesson

I generally assess a students weaknesses and work on those. I also work on their current assignments as well so they don't fall behind at school.

I prefer 3rd grade and higher for the age group. But I have worked with multinational students, students with learning disabilities and students who just don't want to learn. I think getting through to the ones that just don't want to do it are my favorites though. The one's who think they can't and I show them they can. I boost their confidence in themselves. It is priceless to me.

Make sure they are teachers not just good at math. You need a teacher. Someone who can explain the concepts, not just do the work.

I love teaching and working with students. I am working with an adult learner and when she understands something she has been struggling with, there is that moment of ahhhh, I get it that is just irreplaceable to me!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Where do you struggle? What don't you understand?

Perfect! Susan is a phenomenal tutor. She has been helping me study for my college placement exams and she has exceeded all my expectations for what an online tutor be like. She quickly adapts to my preferred speed of learning and will go over a subject as may times as necessary (with me that can be a lot) with the patients of an angel!! She is very kind, knowledgeable, and funny. I will continue to utilize Susan as a resource for both myself and my children, as well as refer her out to anyone I know is in need. If your looking for an amazing tutor... look no further!!!

Perfect! We hired Susan to help our daughter Caidyn with Geometry. Susan made her feel comfortable and worked hard to make sure she understood her lessons. Susan was flexible with her time when Caidyn needed extra help to get through her work. Caidyn's grade went up significantly because of the help she got. If we need help again in the future, we will definitely hire Susan.

Susan has tutored my children for over a year and has been wonderful. Susan is patient, works great with my kids, and has significant expertise. She has so many strategies and methods to ensure that children learn, stay engaged, and enjoy their time with her.

I have seen first-hand the effect she’s had. Both my children have definitely improved in math and feel more confident.

Susan is also excellent in her interactions with my husband and me. She always keeps us informed on her sessions with our kids, gives us tips, and has been accommodating when life gets busy.

I highly recommend Susan.

Susan's goal is to help students learn and do better. She has patience and understanding with her students and she knows her material well. Not everyone can be a teacher or a tutor as it takes a special skill set to impart that knowledge to a student in a way they can understand and learn. Susan has those skills. She is approachable and can work with all ages. She meets students where they are and then helps them grow. Highly recommend

I highly recommend Susan because she is a very kind and trustworthy tutor who always ensures her students are successful. I am ome of her students and I've been learning with her a lot better than I have with tutors in the past. Not only does she help her students with their schoolwork, she helps them by making sure they're okay.
