About Meredith
Math is almost always viewed as the scariest and most difficult subject, but that should not be the case! Yes, there are difficult aspects to math, but the opportunities for growth and learning are astronomical. My passion is to not only help you with math, but to get to know your learning style and cater to your personality. It is so much more than math, it is about learning how to overcome difficult tasks and power through something that may not be super fun in the moment. I want to help grow students' love for learning, which is why I have decided to pursue math education as a career!
I was a math tutor in high school to elementary age students. I excelled in all of my math classes, passing the AP Calculus AB exam and making straight A's in every math class I have taken (except Calculus-Based Physics I because lets be real....what is all of that?!? But I worked hard and made an A in the second semester. It is ALL about growth, not just about straight A's!) in college and high school. I am a Math Education major and am about to enter into my student teaching semester. I have passed my Math Praxis and only lack student teaching to be licensed!

My first step is to get to know the student and hear from them on what they struggle with. I also like to ask about their learning style and how they believe they best learn. Then, we get into working on problems! I do not feed answers or steps, rather, I view myself as a guide. I ask questions and allow them to do the work!
Get someone who cares about YOU, not just about the grade or checking things off of a list. Yes, there should be structure and work, but the student should be able to freely communicate his or her needs to the tutor. Make sure whoever you hire cares more about the process of learning than just the product of an A while they are tutoring you!

Details
I charge $20 an hour for my tutoring sessions. Depending on how much tutoring is needed, I am willing to create a package deal if a student requires multiple days a week for tutoring sessions.
