About Keita

Greetings,

I am a passionate educator with a specialization in mathematics, committed to unlocking the secrets of this powerful science for students of all ages and levels. I bring to the table over three decades of hands-on teaching and tutoring experience, during which I've fine-tuned a unique, personalized teaching methodology that helps demystify complex mathematical concepts.

As a certified teacher holding a master's degree in mathematics, I have dedicated my life to the world of numbers, figures, and equations since my college days. I believe in the power of understanding over memorization, and this ethos has guided my teaching approach throughout my career. From kindergarten to college-level courses - whether it's Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, or Statistics - my aim is always to build strong mathematical foundations while fostering a genuine appreciation for the subject.

I am not just your typical math tutor; I am a fervent advocate for the beautiful language of mathematics, always finding joy in illuminating the fascinating ways it integrates into our everyday lives. I am here to help you elevate your mathematical proficiency, develop problem-solving skills, and boost your confidence in tackling mathematical challenges.

For us to embark on this journey, I offer a free assessment that will allow us to identify your current math level. With this knowledge, I can tailor my approach to suit your needs, addressing gaps and reinforcing strengths.

If you're ready to transform your mathematical understanding, I would be delighted to engage in a discussion about how I can help enhance your skills. Together, we can navigate the intriguing world of mathematics. Looking forward to our mathematical adventure together.

I did not want to teach.  I wanted to get a PhD in mathematics.  However, I needed money and had a family to take care of.  I became a teacher since that is what i did all the time with the all of the people I knew.  I taught or tutored math and chess.

I have a BA in pure mathematics. I am one class away from my masters in mathematics.  I have a Professional Teaching Certificate from the State of Michigan. I have worked with Project SEED and learned Socratic Teaching. I have also worked with Math Corps. I have learned also how to use what I have been teaching or tutoring mathematics for 30+ years.  I have also been coaching and teaching chess for just as long.  I am also a Detroit Firefighter and have taught or tutored math at every firehouse I have been at.  I have even taught and tutored at the students that lived aroung the firehouse.

I talk with the parents first then the student.  I have to ascertain what the parents want before I talk with the student.  I then give the student an assessment to find out where they are and to figure out the program I am going to use to get student where they need to be.

I have worked with all types.  1st grade to 12th grade of course.  I have also worked with college students and tutored engineering students in every college I have visited.

Be prepared for hard work.

I have many. I have done this for a long time.  I met a student named D. Miller while I was at Denby.  I have never seen anyone as gifted as he was in Mathematics.  He was in trouble alot but always had time for mathematics.  I lost him after his grandmother passed (his anchor).  I was told, he was in trouble again with the authorities.  He will never be forgotten.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What they want and where they want to be.
