About Joseph

I am an experienced mathematics lecturer and examiner across different examination boards. I teach GCSE Mathematics, Functional Skills Mathematics and A level Mathematics, supporting students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Financial Mathematics. My experience as both a teacher and examiner gives me a clear understanding of what examination boards expect, common mistakes students make and how marks are awarded.

I am patient, approachable and committed to helping students build confidence in mathematics. I understand that many students struggle because of anxiety, gaps in their knowledge or previous negative experiences with the subject. I therefore create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

My lessons are clear, structured and focused on each student’s individual needs. Whether a student wants to improve their confidence, prepare for an examination, strengthen particular topics or work towards a higher grade, I provide practical and personalised support to help them progress.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised to each student’s level, goals and learning style. I begin by identifying any gaps in knowledge, areas of difficulty and the student’s confidence with the subject. This allows me to plan lessons that focus on what they genuinely need rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

A typical lesson includes a short recap, a clear step-by-step explanation of the topic, worked examples and guided practice. Students then complete questions independently, including examination-style questions where appropriate. I provide immediate feedback, explain mistakes clearly and show students how to improve their method and presentation.

As an examiner across different examination boards, I help students understand how marks are awarded, what examiners look for and how to avoid common mistakes. I support GCSE, Functional Skills and A level Mathematics, including exam preparation, revision, topic support and confidence building.

My lessons are patient, structured and interactive. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explain their thinking and learn from mistakes in a supportive environment. My aim is to help every student improve their understanding, become more independent and approach mathematics with greater confidence.

Perfect! Thank you Josephwe have seen improvement in her attitude to Maths and she is enjoying her learning with you.

Joseph's response
She is a very capable student and always comes to lessons ready to learn. She understands new topics quickly and is not afraid to try more difficult questions. Although she is in Year 5, she has been able to work through some Year 10 maths with good understanding. She asks questions when needed and has a very positive attitude towards maths. I would like her to keep challenging herself and explaining her methods clearly.

Joseph is one of those rare individuals who naturally inspires trust, confidence, and calm in the people around him. His presence is steady, his communication is clear, and his commitment to helping others succeed is unmistakable. Students respond to him not just because he knows his material, but because he genuinely cares about their growth and wellbeing.

He has a gift for making people feel seen. Whether he’s explaining a difficult concept, offering encouragement, or simply listening, Joseph creates an environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and push themselves further. His patience is matched by his enthusiasm — a combination that makes learning feel less intimidating and far more empowering.

As someone who knows Joseph personally, I’ve seen how consistently he shows up for others. He is reliable, thoughtful, and grounded. He leads by example, demonstrating integrity in the small things as much as the big ones. Students benefit not only from his knowledge, but from his character.

If you’re looking for someone who can build confidence, foster trust, and bring out the best in learners, Joseph is exactly the kind of person you want guiding them.
