About Prajna
I graduated from University with a Bachelor's in Mathematics and Statistics. I was originally planning on being an Actuary, since it seemed like a challenge, and I had taken 2 of the Actuarial Exams before I was recruited to work at a bank in New York and decided to go for it. I've been teaching in some capacity for the last 10+ years. I would take volunteer community classes, mostly working with classrooms of elementary school students. I was employed with the Princeton Review for years, working mostly on ACT prep with high school students. I've also privately tutored in that time, mostly in Math and Statistics. I love working with students, understanding their unique skills and struggles, and designing a lesson plan to help them succeed. I've been where they were and I recognize that school and college stress has only gone up from when I was dealing with it. Life and learning is fun! I want to make learning math fun and easy for students and, if math isn't your preferred subject, I want to make it easy to pass the classes so that you can focus on the subjects you love!

I work one-on-one or with small groups of students to ensure that every student has enough attention. I've tutored at client's homes before, or at local libraries or coffee shops - depending on the comfort of the student.
I have experience working with students of all ages; I've managed classrooms of preschoolers and taught high schoolers math and test/college prep. I tailor my lesson plans to each student, taking into account their highs and lows.
Every student is different, has different goals and motivations, different struggles and challenges. I want to make sure my students are comfortable in their sessions, feeling empowered in their skills and safe to voice their unknowns.
I specialize in mathematics, no matter the age. However, I have also helped students with writing before, from elementary school projects to college entrance essays.
I look forward to discussing with you/your student about the specific challenges you're concerned about and how to address them head on!
