About Sophie
I’m now in my second year of studying law in Trinity College Dublin, having completed a year of advanced university-level French where we covered a range of French language, literature and culture. I obtained firsts in my grammar modules, as I built on the strong foundations that I established while preparing for the Leaving Certificate French exam. I gave numerous weekly grinds to students alongside my first-year studies, all of whom exceeded their self-predicted grades and result expectations for their LC French exam after a year of grinds with me.
Having obtained 100% in my LC French exam, I thoroughly appreciate and understand all aspects of the exam, and how to excel in them by working and preparing cleverly. No matter what a student’s initial ability is in French, the motto ‘work smarter not harder’ really applies to approaching this exam. I continued French into university as I loved studying it so much for the LC, and I want to continue to instil this love for such a great language in my students, while advising them how best to strategically ace their exams. My teaching style is collaborative, focusing on the needs and what each student wants to cover, given it is their lesson at the end of the day! I meet the needs of each student, whether it be revising grammar they don’t understand in class or multiple oral sessions with them to build confidence ahead of their speaking exam. I would love to continue building these effective, professional relationships with future students!

Having taught students of a variety of abilities, I ensure that we work together to achieve each student’s individual potential. I teach my grinds in a positive, supportive but results-driven manner with a focus on using exam technique to maximise grade outcomes. We work on all aspects of the French course, including the written exam, the reading comprehension component, aural and oral.
