About Jethro
Hello! My name is Jethro, and I am an engineer with professional experience applying mathematics to real-world design, analysis, and problem-solving projects. Mathematics has always been one of my strongest interests, and I enjoy helping students develop both confidence and competence in the subject.
I believe that students learn best when they understand the logic behind a concept rather than simply memorizing formulas. My approach focuses on building strong fundamentals, breaking down complex problems into simple steps, and encouraging critical thinking. Mathematics can be challenging when students are asked to memorize formulas without truly understanding the concepts behind them. My goal is to help students develop a strong foundation in mathematics by breaking down complex topics into simple, logical steps and showing how they apply to real-world situations.
My teaching approach focuses on understanding rather than memorization. I encourage students to ask questions, identify where they are struggling, and build confidence through guided problem-solving. I explain concepts using practical examples, visual methods when appropriate, and a step-by-step approach that makes even difficult topics more manageable.
A typical lesson begins with a review of previous material and an assessment of any difficulties the student encountered. We then work through new concepts together, followed by guided examples and practice problems. Lessons conclude with a summary of key takeaways and recommendations for independent practice to reinforce learning.
What sets me apart is my professional engineering background and my experience applying mathematics to real-world projects. As an engineer working with technical calculations, design analysis, and problem-solving on a daily basis, I can demonstrate how mathematical concepts are used beyond the classroom. This often helps students better understand the purpose and value of what they are learning.
