About Zaakira
Qualified English Teacher I am a fully qualified English teacher with a degree in English Literature from the University of Sheffield and a PGCE in Secondary English with QTS from Sheffield Hallam University (2020). I have extensive experience teaching English Language and Literature across a range of secondary schools, working with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities. I offer tailored one-to-one tuition for GCSE and A Level students, focusing on each learner’s individual needs, strengths, and goals. My approach is adaptive, supportive, and designed to build confidence as well as academic success. I have also worked extensively with SEND and EAL pupils, ensuring that all learners are able to access and enjoy the subject .

Hi, I’m Zaakira, a passionate and fully qualified Secondary English Teacher with a love for language, literature, and helping students unlock their confidence in English. I hold a degree in English Literature from the University of Sheffield and a PGCE with QTS in Secondary English from Sheffield Hallam University. I currently teach English in a secondary school and offer one-to-one tuition for GCSE English Language and Literature, as well as A Level English Literature. My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, abilities, and learning style — whether that’s building essay confidence, deepening literary analysis, or strengthening exam technique. I believe that the best way to truly understand literature is through discussion — exploring ideas, themes, and interpretations together. This approach encourages an open and analytical mindset, helping students form thoughtful responses before translating their ideas into writing. I also place a strong emphasis on developing each student’s unique writing voice, guiding them to express their ideas clearly, creatively, and with confidence. I have experience teaching across exam boards (mainly AQA) and supporting SEND and EAL learners. For those finding traditional school methods challenging, I can provide alternative strategies to help make English more accessible and enjoyable. I offer tuition during evenings and weekends, providing flexible learning opportunities that fit around your schedule.
