About Derek
Hi! My name is Derek and I'm currently a second-year engineering student at U.C. Irvine. Math and physics are among my favorite subjects, which is why I am a tutor and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I am no stranger to teaching others, as I have taught many of my peers who were struggling in my math and physics university courses, as well as participated in numerous volunteering opportunities where I tutored younger students. I am easygoing and will try to make the content easy to pick up--my job is to help you learn, not give you more stress! I hope to hear from you soon!

My teaching method involves (in my opinion) the best way to learn--through practice. I like to start by defining the method, theorem, concept, etc. that is relevant to the lesson and then go through several examples that encompass all or most of the types of problems for said concept. Math and physics are subjects that require practice, not just reading, to succeed in, and my teaching style will specifically emphasize that.
My lessons are targeted for middle schoolers, high schoolers, and some college students. I specifically teach algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus 1 and 2, and all levels of physics up to an introductory college level.
