About Isla
I'm a future Engineering student set to start studying in just a few months, with a strong academic background and a passion for math, science, and problem-solving. I want to help students build both confidence and understanding in their subjects. I take a patient, supportive approach and aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving.

I have over three years of tutoring experience through the Diocesan School for Girls Tuakana Teina programme, where I worked with students in Years 7–10 across general science, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Beyond these weekly sessions, I regularly provided additional one-on-one lessons in science and also tutored multiple students in mathematics in my own time. This has given me strong experience working with junior high school and primary school students across both Math and Science.
I am also available to tutor senior students (Years 11-13) in General Math, Calculus, Statistics, Accounting, and Year 13 Economics.
Having completed my NCEA exams from 2023-2025, I have recent, first-hand experience with the curriculum and understand what it takes to achieve top results. I developed my own study methods, which helped me achieve some of the highest results in the country, and I aim to pass these strategies on to my students.
My teaching approach focuses on building a deep understanding of concepts through clear explanations, analogies, and adapting to each student’s individual learning style. I believe that understanding alone is not enough for exam success, so I also emphasize active recall and targeted practice to help students confidently apply their knowledge in assessments.
I am confident working with students of all ages and abilities, whether they are looking to build foundational skills, improve their grades, or extend their interest in a subject.
As a future engineering student, I am passionate about STEM subjects and bring strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to my tutoring. I tailor each lesson to ensure every student can learn in a way that works best for them.
My goal is to help students become confident, independent learners - equipping them with skills and ways of thinking that will benefit them throughout school and beyond.
I aim to foster a genuine passion for learning and help students experience the same enjoyment and motivation that led me to pursue engineering at a leading UK university.
