About James
I am an experienced tutor, with proven success in providing individual tuition at A level, GCSE and Key Stage 3. Whatever the level, I improve learners' confidence, achievement and enjoyment of Maths. I tailor my approach to suit the individual needs of individual learners, and bring a range of strategies and resources to help pupils achieve mastery of the subject. I have taught at leading independent and state schools, as well as having several years' experience of providing tuition to a range of pupils - helping pupils at all stages from getting that critical pass grade at GCSE up to successful MAT and STEP papers. I am a fully qualified teacher, having both a Mathematics degree from Durham University and a PGCE. In addition I have an MSc in psychology, giving further insight into the cognitive and developmental aspects of students' learning. University : - Sunderland University - MSc Psychology [Distinction]

I have known James for 10 years. As a colleague in a very academic department, he stood out not only as being an extremely capable practitioner in the classroom, but also as an exceptional mathematician, having an in-depth knowledge of the full spectrum from KS3 right up to A-Level Further Mathematics and also into some material of undergraduate degree standard. James has high expectations, and the students he has taught have been appreciative and respectful of the efforts he has taken to teach them.
James was an outstanding maths teacher when I worked with him at Yarm school. He was very well respected by pupils and teachers alike and has an excellent record of results at A level and GCSE.
