About Joy
I currently reside in Columbus, Ohio. I am married and have two beautiful boys, ages 8 and 12. I am surrounded by children every day and I wouldn't have it any other way. Being a mother has helped me be a better teacher and has even strengthened relationships with my students' parents. It brings me happiness to instill a love for mathematics. I hope to be an inspiration for every student I teach.

I love teaching and building relationships with my students. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to really see what and how a student is thinking and processing. I can then cater to their needs as a result. It also allows me to see gaps in their knowledge so that I can fill in the missing information. I have five years' experience teaching 5th grade math, seven years in 6th, and six years for 7th and 8th. This experience has allowed me to gain valuable knowledge of what students have learned previously and what they will learn in the future. It allows me to make connections between grades that most teachers aren't able to do. I feel blessed to work at a school where I teach multiple grades. I have a better understanding as a result.
