About Joyce
Hello! My name is Joyce and I'm an incoming engineering student at Cornell University. In my earlier years of schooling, I used to dread math -- but recently, I've grown to appreciate and really enjoy the subject. Through tutoring, I hope to share my love for math with others and help students realize that it's not impossible! They are more than capable of succeeding :)
I received a 5 on Calculus BC and an 800 on the SAT Math section, so I'm comfortable tutoring anything from elementary school math to Calculus BC, as well as AP Statistics and SAT Math. Please reach out if you have any questions!

My goal is to help my students gain a true understanding of the material instead of just memorizing formulas. Especially within math, a very algorithmic subject, I want to help students understand where formulas come from, the "why" behind problem solving strategies, and how they can apply what they learn. In the first lesson, I like to understand what the student is hoping to achieve and get a feel of their learning style so I can tailor my sessions to best work with them.
