About Kwaku
I’m an educator. I have previously taught at the high school and college level and I believe being a student myself makes me one of the best candidates to be a tutor because i can relate to students more easily and tailor lessons based on their experiences.
My experience in teaching mathematics and physics has equipped me with the knowledge and tools to help every student achieve short-term and long-term goals.
The methods I've used with students as a teacher have also been used in the training educational professionals:
1. Individual student analysis allows me to pinpoint the learning gap.
2. Planning appropriate lessons and materials that are rigorous and common core-focused.
3. Creation of formative assessments allows for me to track student progress and respond to the students needs much faster.
I believe that i will be able to help any student with any problem they have.

At the start of each meeting, I ask the student how they're feeling, like if they're tired or excited about something going on in their life. This helps me better prepare for any distractions or a slow lesson, and I think this also lets them know that I care about their well-being and not just that they're at the lesson. Then, I ask how if they had any wins since we last met. I find that starting with this positivity helps both of us focus on the good, which often makes for a more productive session.
I then go over the agenda for the session so that they know what to expect. I also typically give them a brief quiz to go over the previous sessions' topics and see what they remember and or where they may need additional work. After the review, I try to connect how those previous topics relate to what we're going over in the current session. I go through the lesson, which typically involves the student reading material aloud and discussing the prompts with me. Finally, I leave at least five minutes at the end of the session for any additional questions about the material.
