About Rebecca
Hi, I’m Rebecca, a certified elementary math teacher with several years of experience helping students build strong foundational skills and confidence in math. I currently teach 5th grade math, where I work with a wide range of learners and tailor instruction to meet each student’s needs.
I have extensive experience using standards-aligned instruction and data to identify learning gaps and support student growth. I understand the expectations students face and how to prepare them not only to succeed in class, but also to feel confident in their abilities.
I pride myself on being patient, supportive, and highly organized. I create a structured but positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving over time.
My goal is always to help students truly understand what they are learning while building the confidence they need to succeed independently.

My approach as a tutor is centered around building confidence, closing learning gaps, and helping students truly understand math instead of just memorizing steps. I believe every student is capable of success when concepts are broken down in a way that makes sense to them.
In my sessions, I use a mix of visual models, step-by-step guidance, and real-time feedback to make learning interactive and engaging. I often incorporate strategies like drawing models, using graph paper for organization, and connecting math to real-world situations so students can see the “why” behind what they are learning.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in or warm-up to review prior skills, followed by direct instruction where I model a concept in a clear, simple way. Students then practice with support before moving into more independent work. I adjust each lesson based on the student’s needs, whether that means reteaching foundational skills or pushing them to deeper understanding.
What sets me apart is my experience as a 5th grade math teacher and my strong understanding of standards and expectations. I know exactly where students tend to struggle and how to address those gaps effectively. I also focus heavily on making students feel successful, because confidence is often the missing piece in math.
My lessons are best suited for elementary and middle school students, especially those who need extra support, are struggling with specific concepts, or want to strengthen their skills and test performance.
