About Ilaria
My career as an English teacher started two years ago in Beijing. Yes, because I have studied Chinese and I am a bachelor's degree student in Oriental Studies at La Sapienza University in Rome.
In 2017, thanks to a scolarship, I attended the advanced Chinese course for three months. During that time I taught English to many students and I had the pleasure of helping a university teacher to enrich her vocabulary and to make conversation, in order to getting her ready for a trip to Europe.
I chose a study programme which includes English language and therefore I chose to continue this wonderful and widespread language as well. Back in Italy, I deepened my studies and achieved C2 level in English through travel, books, writing and films in the original language. Now I can use all the registers of spoken and written language, from business language to the most informal vocabulary.
I have translated entire books and documents from English to Italian as a freelancer. I enjoy teaching foreign languages in general, because I feel that I can create a bridge between people from different countries and cultures.

Do you want to learn English from scratch? Do you need to go over before a trip or a test? I'm here to make you realize your wish! Not only I am precise and quiet, but also put a lot of creative ideas and love meeting new people! I like to offer a first lesson of an hour to get to know each other, both because it can put students at ease and to adapt to their needs, goals and learning styles.
Don't be afraid: when we face walls that seems too big, we often tend to postpone important achievements or things we would like to learn, like speaking a second language. Nothing could be simpler if you have someone at your side who gives us a realistic view of our potential. Everyone is different and unique, with his/her strengths and opportunities to be seized.
My philosophy is always to tune with every different way of thinking, speaking and learning. In this way, we can learn more about the qualities and areas of opportunity, but also learn while having fun!
Talking about our hobby, a favorite sport, an experience with friends in English increases the state of well-being we get from talking about things we like. We instantly link that feeling of well-being with learning, in this case English.
To get an idea, here is an example of a lesson like:
- 10mn of informal conversation: how are you, what did you do this week?
- 10mn feedback on some activities: written expression, oral comprehension ... Highlighting of the goals already achieved and areas of opportunity.
- 20mn work on english material (text, video, song): what is it? What do you think about it?
- 10mn: grammar exercises related to a common situation.
- 5mn: reading and pronunciation of a written text.
- 5mn: feedforward and summary of the lesson (vocabulary used and learned during the lesson).
Of course, this is an example, but you can spend more time on one activity than to another or focusing on some questions and doubts.
We can leave comments on articles or news about a subject of your interest i.e. if access level and desidered results are intermediate-advanced. Important: the lesson structure depends on you and your comfort: we are a team and study with your pace and with activities you like :)

Molto disponibile e simpatica. Essendo io madrelingua non ho avuto molto bisogno della parte orale però è riuscita comunque a darmi delle dritte sia sulla pronuncia che sulla forma. L'ho conosciuta perché i miei genitori, sotto raccomandazione, l'hanno contatta per aiutarmi a migliorare sulla scrittura ed hanno molto apprezzato sia i suoi modi di fare che le sue tecniche di insegnamento. Mi sono trovato subito a mio agio e devo dire che è sempre stata disponibile per qualsiasi dubbio e chiarimento. Se ne avessi ancora il bisogno non esiterei a contattarla.
Ottima conoscenza della lingua; simpatica, disponibile ma soprattutto molto paziente. Abbiamo frequentato l'Università insieme e da madrelingua cinese posso attestare la sua preparazione sia dal punto di vista teorico, ammetto di aver dovuto chiedere alcune "delucidazioni", che dal punto di vista linguistico e di padronanza.

1 hour: 17 euros. Minimum time for each lesson: 1 hour.
2 hours lesson, same day: 30 euros. 4 hours: 70 euros with conditions to be defined with the student.
The supplement for any trips is to be defined, depending on the distance, I usually charge € 20 / hour.
