About Renae
I’m a Māori wāhine, writer, published author, and book publisher with a Bachelor of Arts from Massey University. I grew up knowing the power of stories — not just to entertain, but to heal, to teach, and to connect us to our culture, our communities, and ourselves. I started tutoring because I know how life-changing it can be to have someone truly believe in your potential. Whether a student is struggling with schoolwork or already flying ahead and craving a creative challenge, I want to create a space where they feel seen, heard, and supported. I work with kids aged 8 to 18, as well as adults 60+ years, and adore doing so. Whether we’re working on school assignments, essays, creative writing, or making zines, my sessions are always built around encouragement, expression, and solid tools for learning.

Kia ora! I’m Renae Williams — a published author, passionate writer, and founder of a small publishing press 5ever Books. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Massey University and bring years of experience in both creative and academic writing to my tutoring. My approach is warm, empowering, and deeply encouraging of each student’s unique voice and learning style.
I offer high-quality, tailored lesson plans designed to build confidence and stretch ability. Whether it’s improving essay structure, boosting reading comprehension, or refining creative expression. My sessions include engaging writing prompts, step-by-step skill-building techniques, and proven strategies to support literacy, critical thinking, and self-expression for students aged 8–18.
For students with a creative spark, I also run zine-making and creative writing workshops! These hands-on sessions are a fantastic way for young writers to explore storytelling, poetry, visual design, and self-publishing. Students will not only develop their voice but learn how to turn their work into physical or digital publications they can be proud of.
