About Alexandra
I am a young creative about to embark on an Art Foundation course, I have an academically geared brain with a huge energy for creative outlet. I have a levels in Maths, Philosophy and Art, and an AS in chemistry with grades A, B, A* and A respectively. My GCSE results were 10 A*s and 2 As. While I was a school pupil myself I frequently took opportunities to work with the younger students within my own school and in local outreach programs to help them learn, particularly reading, maths and languages. I have worked with children from the age of reception right up to GCSE and have younger siblings, cousins and family friends whom I have frequently child minded. I am also a circus performer and in my spare time spend hours playing, practicing and sharing these skills.

My teaching method is flexible, as I am aware that each student learns differently. For me, the most important thing is that the student is inspired to learn and has a passion for their subjects. I base my lessons on a topic, but if the child wants to explore further, I believe that it is of utmost importance that any questions on the broader topic are also answered. I start with a simple concept and explore this with the student before asking them to complete various exercises which utilise and demonstrate this concept. Once the student has grasped the basic idea I will present them with more complex exercises where they can learn to integrate this basic concept into their larger subject knowledge. In some cases where students find it difficult to grasp a concept, I will use coloured flashcards, mind-maps and even create games to help them understand, as making learning fun is often a winning method for getting theories to stick!
