About Heather
I have an Education degree and Diploma in ESL and Early Literacy. I have successfully taught students from all over the world in the classroom, online and through tutoring. I am a kind and gentle teacher, who challenges students in a non-stressful manner. We want to have fun and learn at the same time.

I make learning easy and fun. I can show you how easy it is to learn to read. I teach students (and ESL/ELL) through realistic experiences and activities. I believe that you do not learn the English language by memorizing vocabulary as memorizing a word does not tell you how to use it. Before I teach you to read and write, I make sure you know the sounds of the letters and how letters come together to make words. From there, words to sentences, sentences to paragraphs, and paragraphs to stories. My area of expertise has been directed towards early primary students, but have taught older children and adults as well. Our first meeting is always free. It's our chance to get to know each other and for you to see if you want to work with me.

Details
I typically teach for 1.5 hours at a rate of $50/hour. That works for some students but not for all, so we can do whatever works best for the student. Sometimes, 1 hour is just not enough! My rate is the same for all types of delivery - webcam, in-person, etc.
