About Katelynn
I started reading independently very early in life. I read my first novel length book at age 8; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I have since read well over 100 books both for pleasure and for educational purposes. As a child I never really thought anything of it until I was much older and I realized not everyone was like me. My own mother has literacy problems and has only read one book in her life; The Hobbit. This is primarily what encouraged me to become certified as a TEFL instructor. I wanted to help people (young and old) discover the joys of reading and learning. I have since worked both hands-on with children overseas as an English teacher and online as an English and Writing Lab tutor. I believe these very different teaching experiences set me apart as an English/Literature instructor.

I am an “audio-visual learner”
This means my brain absorbs sound and visual stimuli better than just the written word. That being said, I understand not everyone learns the same way as me. As a teacher/tutor I try to incorporate as many learning styles as possible- auditory, visual, reading/writing, and kinesthetic.
My lessons are for anyone looking to improve their literacy skills and/or looking to learn the basics of reading English and Literature.
