About Lily
Hi, I'm a passionate vocal coach with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Studies. I specialize in guiding singers through the rich worlds of R\&B, Soul, Acoustic Pop, and Contemporary Christian music. Whether you're a hobbyist or an aspiring recording artist, I tailor each lesson to help you find your unique voice. My teaching goes beyond just hitting the right notes—I focus on lyric interpretation, tone shaping, harmonies, and phrasing to help you tell your story with emotional depth. I believe every voice has its own color, and I love helping students discover and refine theirs. Using modern tech like digital audio workstations (DAWs), vocal processors, and studio-grade microphones, I prepare students for real-world studio recording and songwriting sessions. You'll learn how to work with backing tracks, record clean takes, and build layered harmonies that shine. I also integrate studio techniques into our lessons so you’re comfortable in front of the mic and behind the headphones. My approach is creative, personalized, and rooted in both technique and expression. For The Church Ensemble Player and The Crossover Artist, mastering multiple genres begins with a solid foundation in vocal technique—breath support, tone placement, and control. Classical training shapes discipline and pitch precision, which are transferable across genres. Pop demands emotional agility and stylistic flair, while jazz introduces improvisation, flexibility, and rhythmic nuance. Each style requires a tailored vocal approach: full, resonant tones for classical; lighter, conversational tones for pop; and expressive phrasing with swing for jazz. Pitch control is honed through scales, arpeggios, and interval training using digital pitch apps like Vocal Pitch Monitor or Vanido. To adapt quickly between genres, singers must build muscle memory through consistent vocal drills and ear training. DAWs like GarageBand or Logic Pro help track progress, layer harmonies, and explore tone colors in recordings. Metronomes keep rhythm sharp, especially during jazz syncopation or ensemble work. Church Ensemble Players benefit from blending skills and harmonization, tuning their voices to enrich group dynamics. Crossover Artists must be fearless in exploring genre fusion while maintaining vocal health. Both personas should record and analyze performances regularly to refine technique and expression. With dedication, digital tools, and stylistic awareness, singers can confidently navigate and master diverse musical landscapes.
