About Anisa

I hold a First-Class degree in Political Science (International Politics) and a Master's in Public Policy, and I currently work full-time in the Civil Service within the policy field. I consistently achieved high grades during university which reflects my deep understanding of critical thinking, research, and writing—skills I now bring to my tutoring practice.

With nine years of tutoring experience, I’ve developed a proven track record of helping students achieve strong results. My approach goes beyond just covering content; I focus on teaching students how to structure their thoughts clearly, how to analyse and critique their material, and how to apply these skills in their assessments. I’ve worked with a variety of students, and I’m proud to say that they consistently perform well under my guidance.

For English Language and Literature, my lessons are personalised to meet the needs of each student. I help students master key themes, characters, and contexts while providing them with the tools to analyse and critique their texts. By focusing on both content and exam technique, I ensure that my students not only understand the material but are also prepared to tackle any exam question with confidence.

English

I specialise in teaching English Literature and Language for AQA and Edexcel GCSEs, offering a comprehensive and structured approach to ensure students feel confident and well-prepared for their exams. My goal is to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to excel.

English Literature
I teach a range of texts, including Jekyll and Hyde, An Inspector Calls, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, and others. For poetry, I cover both the Love and Relationships and Conflict clusters. My lessons are designed to ensure a deep understanding of:

- Plot and Structure: Breaking down the narrative or poetic form to uncover its purpose.
- Themes: Identifying and analysing overarching ideas and their significance.
- Characters: Understanding their motivations, relationships, and development.
- Context: Exploring the historical, social, and cultural background of the texts.
- Critique: This is an essential skill often overlooked in schools, but I teach students how to critique interpretations and perspectives to access the highest mark bands.

I also focus heavily on essay and paragraph structure, showing students how to build sophisticated, clear, and concise arguments that meet examiners' expectations. Lessons include working through essay plans, marking example essays, and practising writing under timed conditions.

Students will also have access to high-quality resources, including essay plans, top revision tips, and model answers. By the end of our sessions, students will have a robust understanding of their texts and a clear strategy for essay writing.

English Language

For English Language, I begin with an overview of each paper, breaking down what each question requires. I provide students with detailed blueprints for structuring answers, including paragraph-by-paragraph guidance for each question.

Key areas covered:

- Question Analysis: Understanding the demands of analysis, evaluation, and description.
- Example Responses: Going through high-quality answers to show how to approach each question type.
- Writing Skills: For narrative and descriptive writing, as well as writing for purpose, I provide students with template that can be adapted to any question for their real exams.
- Students learn how to create impactful responses using clear structures, whether it’s crafting an imaginative narrative, analysing language and structure, or evaluating a writer's intent.

What Students Will Gain
By the end of our sessions, students will:

- Have a complete folder for each text, poem, and language paper, serving as a detailed blueprint for revision.
- Memorise the structures and components required to answer each type of question with confidence.
- Understand exactly how to pick up marks, with clear strategies for both Literature and Language papers.

My lessons are interactive, organised, and tailored to individual needs, ensuring every student feels supported and capable of achieving their best. Reach out if you have any other questions!
