About Helen
I’m passionate about teaching because I want to make a real difference to students’ learning. Busy classrooms can make it difficult for students to reach their full potential and I enjoy working one-to-one where I can focus fully on each person’s individual needs. I find it really rewarding to see students develop genuine understanding, make progress and grow in confidence. I’m determined that each of my students will reach their full potential and achieve their highest grades.

My teaching approach is multi-sensory (visual, auditory and kinaesthetic), helping students engage fully and retain what they learn. I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable, not a chore. All lessons are tailored to individual needs and designed to:
* Fill gaps in learning
* Build confidence and independence
* Support homework and schoolwork
* Improve exam results
I prepare students for a wide range of exams, including 11+, Common Entrance, GCSE and A level.

Helen is kind, attentive, and a pleasure. She has engaged my teenagers and turned tuition into a positive experience. Highly recommend.
Helen is an excellent and highly reliable tutor who has made a lasting difference to my son’s learning. She has worked with him for over three years, during which time she has shown consistent dedication, patience, and understanding—particularly important as he has dyslexia and ADHD. Helen has taken the time to adapt her teaching methods to suit his individual needs, helping him to build both his confidence and his academic skills.
She is extremely experienced and brings a calm, structured approach to every session. Her lessons are always well organised and thoughtfully planned, which has helped my son stay focused and engaged. What stands out most is her ability to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment, where he feels comfortable and motivated to try his best.Helen has tutored my son for nearly a year, and has helped him improve his English grade and grow in confidence at school. He’d been struggling with the subject so this was a big achievement. She engaged him well, and kept me up to date with what they’re working on, and has kept the level so that he’s improved, but not found it too hard or been deterred. I would recommend Helen as a tutor.
Helen has been tutoring my daughter in maths for around a year. My daughter is neurodiverse, and Helen was able to build a trusting relationship quite quickly. She spent the early lessons rebuilding my daughter’s confidence, and she’s gone from strength to strength. Although she focuses on maths, she always offers to help with other subjects, which is really helpful now that we’re in year 10!
We couldn’t have asked for a better tutor. Over the past year, Helen supported our son through his GCSE English and Maths with patience and genuine dedication. She has a fantastic ability to explain difficult concepts in a way that really clicks and her encouragement made a huge difference to his confidence.
His grades improved significantly and he also developed a much more positive attitude towards both subjects. Lessons were always well-structured, engaging, and tailored to his needs.
We’re incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, knowledgeable and inspiring tutor.View more recommendations
