About Ailsa
I’m currently in my third year studying BSc Chemistry at Cardiff University. Alongside my degree I work as a student mentor and academic representative for my year, which has helped me develop clear communication and build confidence in leading others.
I’m naturally patient and can explain concepts using different approaches until it clicks. I know chemistry can feel overwhelming at times, so I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, while still keeping lessons focused on making real progress. I also put a strong emphasis on exam technique, helping students understand how to approach questions and achieve the results they’re aiming for.

Sessions usually last around 60 minutes and start with a short, engaging warm-up to get students thinking and feeling confident. I focus on helping students really understand the core concepts in chemistry, so they have a strong foundation before moving on to exam-style questions and tricky topics.
I also put a big emphasis on exam technique, showing students how to approach questions, structure their answers, and pick up as many marks as possible.
Having completed my A Levels fairly recently, I understand what the exam process is like and the small strategies that can make a big difference in achieving your target grade.
I teach GCSE and A-Level Chemistry to students of all abilities, whether you’re aiming to boost your grades, build confidence, or push for top marks. Every session is tailored to the student’s needs, exam board, and individual goals.
