About Tyrell
I'm a Wits Biomedical engineering graduate. I've tutoring maths and science for all high school grades since 2015. I prefer doing grade 10 to 12 maths and science based on being able to plan around my study/work schedules.
I generally take on long term clients so that I feel like I'm actually adding value to the student's academic success instead of overwhelming students with so much content right before tests and exams.

I tend to assess what my student's strengths and weaknesses are so I can design a schedule around them. This generally means giving them a test on our first session to see where our problem areas are and what to focus on. This means we get to spend more time working on understanding how things work so that they are able to repeat techniques learnt in the long run, both in preparation for final exams as well as at varsity.
My lessons are normally once a week for 2 hours per subject. This let's students get into a rhythm and ask questions with there being enough time to go through everything in a weekly lesson plan.
I'd send out the lesson to the student and parents a day or two before our lesson with a few questions I'd like them to attempt before we meet.
We will work on questions together. Both ones I've selected and ones provided from school with varying degrees of difficulty. These include questions from both IEB and NSC exam papers.
I also include mini spot tests every few weeks on older topics covered I.e if we did functions in week 3, the next mini test in week 5 will have functions and whatever topic we covered that week too.
