About Marlyn
I’m a fourth-year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Waterloo with experience as a first-year engineering Teaching Assistant. In this role, I’ve supported over 150 students through review sessions, workshops, assignments, and exam preparation.
I enjoy helping students work through challenging concepts and become more confident in their abilities. My engineering background has given me a strong foundation in math, chemistry, science, and problem-solving, while my experience as a TA has taught me how to explain concepts in different ways depending on how each student learns.
I’m patient, approachable, and committed to creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes.

I focus on making difficult concepts easier to understand by breaking problems down step-by-step and adapting my teaching style to each student. As a University of Waterloo Chemical Engineering student with experience as a first-year engineering TA, I have led review sessions and workshops for over 150 students.
My lessons typically begin by identifying areas where the student is struggling, followed by a clear explanation of the concept and guided practice problems. I encourage students to understand why a solution works rather than simply memorizing steps.
I offer tutoring in math, chemistry, science, and introductory engineering subjects for high school and early university students. I can also help with exam preparation, practice problems, and strengthening foundational concepts.
My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and leave each lesson with a stronger understanding of the material.
